You rush, fill in the form, type the OTP code, click the day and the time and, when it is time to confirm the booking, the message “Booking Failed” appears. This article explains what it usually means and what you can do so you do not lose time.
What the error means
“Booking Failed” is a system error. Most of the time, it means that the slots ran out while you were choosing the day and time. In that case, there is nothing to do: other people were faster.
But sometimes the error appears for other reasons, which are on your side. It is worth ruling them out before every attempt.
The two causes we can fix
From years of experience, we have identified two main causes.
1. Automatic browser translation
If the browser is translating the page, the translation may alter data that should not be translated. This changes the information sent from one screen of the portal to the next until confirmation.
What to do: turn off automatic translation. If the portal is in Italian and you want another language, use the language option of Prenot@mi itself, in the upper right corner.
2. Browser extensions
Some extensions modify the content of the site and can prevent the booking.
What to do: turn off all extensions before trying. In Chrome or Edge:
- Click the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Go to Extensions and then Manage extensions.
- Turn off all the extensions that are active.
And if it keeps showing up
Turning off extensions and automatic translation solves most cases. If the error continues anyway, write to the consulate stating the service and attaching a screenshot of the error.
Remember, though, that the vast majority of the time the error appears because the slots ran out. Prepare the browser, but do not neglect the other details: the complete guide to getting a booking on Prenot@mi covers them all.
